US
My
name is Lena Sundquist and together with my
husband Claes we run a small kennel with
breeding Flatcoated retrievers.
We have had Flatcoated retrievers since 1980
and still we believe that the had Flatcoated
retrievers is one of the most enjoyable
breeds there is.
We have
7 Flatcoated retrievers
living with us in the house as
beloved familymembers. We both train and
start the dogs on trails.
I and Claes have been involved in the
Swedish Spaniel and Retriever-Club. I have
also been involved
in the Flatcoated retriever-club, including
a member of the breeding-committee.
Our aim is to breed sound and healthy
Flatcoats that are mentally strong and easy
to work. Of course we wish for all our dogs
to have an attractive exterior
Kalix - Maybe a little farther away - but
yet so close!
We live in the North of Sweden in
Kalix-Nyborg, the coastal village
"where the Kalix river meets the
sea".
Outdoor adventures and activities
are an inevitable part in our life.
We live close to nature - which we
always have.
First time visitors to the area are
often rendered speechless by all the
grandeur. It's an awesome thing to
experience the deafening silence of
nature. Contrasts are a part of
everyday life in Kalix.
Nature offers the greatest of
sceneries all year round, and it
doesn't cost a thing. Take the polar
nights, that flash with colour from
the northern lights. Cheeks glowing
from the cold of winter and outdoor
sojourns while we glide forward on a
kick sled along white winter roads
with our dogs. What a wonderful
feeling. Or while we ski through the
woods under trees heavy with snow or
on the meter-thick ice of the sea.

Nature awakens when the light returns in
March-April and the spring sun turns warmer.
Snow and ice slowly melt away. But before
the ice is gone, we have time to jig tasty
fish while basking in the sun under a bright
blue sky.
In the summer we have the midnight sun, it
warms and recharges people, animals and
nature for a hundred days with no night!
During the summer, you'll have twice as much
time at your disposal thanks to the light.
Our colourful autumn when the midnight sun
has filled all its repositories with an
abundance of natural resources. Mushrooms,
berries, reindeer, elk, fowl and game fish
await you in the forests, rivers, lakes and
sea.
Quite naturally.
